My Room too
The book My Room too, by artist Irini Karayannopoulou, contains 32 drawings with pencil on paper from 2003 till 2009. Very few have been shown before; most of them are introduced to the public for the first time.
My Room too is a collection of drawings that, having no text and while being no fairy tale, narrates the adventures of a curly haired girl. The little heroine makes a stand on the evils in the same way that her curls are proudly lifted against gravity. Sometimes completely miserable and other times full of optimism, she passes her youth from bad to evil, with a few bright exceptions, like rowing with her beloved one. His hair is also standing on gravity, being a punk!
The title of the book derives from the artist's video My Room, presented at Deste Foundation in 2007 as part of the Part Time Punks exhibition.
